Axel picked up the parchment and tried to arrange the letters. So that they formed Latin words but he still couldn't make any sense of it. While he was sitting in front of the window, he saw the back and the front of the parchment. Suddenly he saw some Latin words which he knew. These words were meant "a crater of the Earth". In this way he had broken the secret code and managed to understand all of it.
أمسك أكسيل الورقه وحاول أن يرتب الحروف ولذلك كونت الحروف كلمات لاتينيه ولكنه ما زال لا يستطيع فهم اى معنى لها. وبينما كان أكسيل جالس أمام النافذه، رأى الخلفيه و الجهه الأماميه للورقه فكانت المفاجأه انه رأى بعض الكلمات اللاتينيه التى كان يعرفها. كانت هذه الكلمات تعنى "فوهة الأرض" وبهذه الطريقه فك أكسيل الشفره واستطاع ان يفهم الرساله بأكملها.

Axel wanted to hide that he broke the secret message from his uncle because he thought that if his uncle read the parchment, he would do what its writer did. Axel was afraid to tell his uncle this matter because professor would want to take Axel with him. They would never return to Hamburg. So Axel decided to stop his uncle from reading the parchment.
أراد أكسيل اخفاء على عمه انه فك الشفره للرساله السريه لانه إعتقد انه اذا علم عمه بذلك وقرأ الورقه ، من الممكن أن يقوم بما فعله كاتب الورقه. فكان أكسيل خائفاً لإخبار عمه بشأن هذا الأمر لأن البروفيسور كان من الممكن أن يأخذ أكسيل معه. إعتقد أكسيل انهم سوف لا يعودون مره أخرى الى هامبورج ، لذلك قرر أكسيل منع عمه عن قراءة الورقه.

Axel wanted to burn the parchment, but the door opened and his uncle appeared while he was just going to burn it. There was no lunch or breakfast and Axel was very hungry. So he decided to tell his uncle about his discovery, and he could stop his uncle from making such a dangerous thing.
أراد أكسيل حرق الورقه ولكن إنفتح الباب و ظهر عمه عندما كان أكسيل قرُب ان يحرق الورقه. لم يكن هناك غذاء أو افطار فكان أكسيل فى غايه الجوع لذلك قرر أكسيل أن يخبر عمه بشأن اكتشافه وكان متأكداً انه سوف يستطيع إيقاف عن فعل مثل هذا الشئ الخطير.

Axel told his uncle that the secret message said "Go down into the crater of Sneffels which the shadow of Scartaris touches before July. Then you'll reach to the centre of the Earth. I have done this. Arne Saknussemm".
أخبر أكسيل عمه أن الرساله تقول أن "آرن ساكنوسيم ذهب أسفل الى فوهة البركان الذى يدعى "Sneffels" الذى تُلقى عليه ظلال جبال "Scartaris" قبل يوليو , وبعد ذلك سيصل الى مركز الأرض. فهذا ما فعله".

After his uncle knew that, he decided to pack his box and told axel to back his box also. Professor brought the Atlas and showed Axel the places Arne had written about in the map of Iceland. They saw the Sneffels which was a huge mountain nearly two thousands meters high. Axel tried to tell his uncle that the journey would be very dangerous, but he wouldn't listen.
بعدما عرف عم أكسيل هذا الكلام قرر أن يحزم أمتعته وأخبر أكسيل ان يحزم أمتعته هو أيضاً إستعداداً للسفر. أحضر البروفيسور كتاب الأطلس و وضح لأكسيل الأماكن التى كتب عنها آرن فى خريطة أيسلندا. رأو "Sneffels" الذى كان عباره عن جبل ضخم ارتفاعه حوالى 2000 متر. حاول أكسيل أن يخبر عمه ان الرحله سوف تكون فى غاية الخطوره ، ولكنه لم يستمع لكلامه.

When Axel told his uncle that this mountain is a volcano, and they would die of the heat of its centre. His uncle replied that Sneffels was an extinct volcano, it hadn't erupted since 1229, now it was quite cold. It had several craters, only one led to the Earth. The mountain Scartaris casts its shadow over this crater at the end of June. Finally, professor told Axel that they should go there and see for themselves, and they left to Iceland the day after tomorrow.
عندما أخبر أكسيل عمه بأن هذا الجبل عباره عن بركان و انهم سوف يموتون من حرارة مركز هذا البركان ، أجابه عمه بأن "Sneffels" هو بركان خامد لم يثور منذ عام 1229. الأن هو هادئ تماماً. هذا البركان كان له فوهات عديده ولكن فوهه واحده فقط هى التى كانت تقود الى مركز الأرض. يلقى جبل "Sneffels" ظله فوق هذه الفوهه فى نهاية شهر يونيو. وفى النهايه أخبر البروفيسور أكسيل بأنهم يجب عليهم الذهاب ليتأكدوا بأنفسهم فغادروا أيسلندا اليوم التالى للغد ( بعد يومين ).




1) How did Axel break the secret code?
- He broke the secret code when he saw some Latin words which he knew. These words meant "a crater of the Earth". He managed to understand the message when he held the parchment in front of the window.

2) Why didn't Axel want, at first, to tell his uncle that he knew the secret message?
- Because he was sure that his uncle would make that journey to the centre of the Earth and take Axel with him.

3) Why didn't Axel want his uncle to make the journey?
- The professor would take Axel with him. Axel believed that the inside of the Earth was very hot and they would die of the heat.

4) Why was Axel going to burn the parchment?
- He was going to burn it in order to stop his uncle from making that dangerous journey to the centre of the Earth.

5) Did Axel burn the parchment?
- No, he didn't because his uncle entered the room suddenly.

6) Why did Axel decide to tell his uncle about the secret message?
- Because he felt sorry for his uncle who hadn't slept or eaten for two days, and Axel was very hungry.

7) What was the secret message of the parchment?
- It was that Arne had been to the centre of the Earth through the crater of Sneffels which the shadow of Scartaris.

How did Axel and the professor feel about making a journey to the centre of the Earth?
- Axel was worried about making that journey, but the professor was exited and decided to make the journey.

9) Axel believed that the journey to the centre of the Earth would be impossible and dangerous. Why?
- Because he believed that the centre of the Earth was very hot. No one would come back alive from there.
